Notice that Apollos is described as “a learned man,” a description used in the first century of a person with advanced education. Notice also that he had a “thorough knowledge of the Scriptures” and “began to speak boldly in the synagogue.” A bit later, in verse 28, Luke tells us that in Achaia the Alexandrian
